Severnside Recycling provide Waitrose with the following;

· Nationwide Store Level recovery of cardboard

· Nationwide Store level recovery of plastic

· Central Coordination of all recovery activities

· Dedicated Key Account Manager

Having been responsible for store level cardboard recovery at Waitrose for over 10 years, Severnside recently carried out audits on Waitrose sites to see if the waste stream could be reduced still further. The audits showed that 40% by volume of the waste disposed of was plastic film. After a cost benefit analysis of recovery versus disposal cost, Severnside provided a national collection service for segregated loose plastic film.

To ensure that the recovery system was maximised Severnside visited each site to ensure education of the appropriate staff. Currently Severnside is recovering 1000 tonnes of plastic p.a. that was previously going to landfill.
