Harvesting circa 1.9 million tonnes of cardboard and paper annually from UK waste streams through 15 of our own recycling facilities makes Severnside the UK’s largest paper collector for recycling. As part of our group, DS Smith Packaging, are the largest UK manufacturer of corrugated packaging to large UK retailers, making it possible for us to handle any volume of paper and packaging recyclate, large or small.

Maintaining the highest standards of cardboard quality and continuity of supply has made us the UK’s industry leader in recovered fibre and helped us to establish a global reputation as a core supplier of recovered fibre.

The DS Smith Group of companies holds a unique position in the UK market. Supply of packing is possible through DS Smith Packaging whilst Severnside Recycling provides the collection infrastructure to recover packaging from the waste stream after its use. This recovered packaging (and other fibre grades) provide the raw materials used in production by the groups paper making operations, St Regis Paper Company.

By utilising the groups own transport division packaging can be supplied at one end of the supply chain and collected and recycled at the other end – providing a unique closed loop scenario.
