Our Integrated Waste Management Service
Severnside Recycling has no investment in landfill and therefore no landfill assets to support. For this reason we share the same goal as our customers – a reduction in material being sent to landfill. This shared goal allows both parties to enter into a unique partnership, a partnership that begins with a Materials Recycling Audit that assesses and continually monitors a customer’s entire waste handling process. The audit views each waste stream as potential raw materials and identifies cost effective, practical solutions for the recovery of recyclate and the safe disposal of the residual
waste. This provides us with access to the materials our business requires, and the customer with a bespoke, one-stop-shop solution to waste management that is both flexible and customer centric. Implementation is on a site-by-site basis, ensuring that Severnside becomes a value added partner in the management process.
Many UK organisations have come to us to outsource their management responsibilities in respect of their waste management obligations. Severnside has the experience to manage all services, in-house or through our supply network, with an overall business aim of increasing service quality and reducing environmental costs through landfill diversion, recycling and improved purchasing processes for the collection and disposal of the remaining waste residue. Severnside’s complete service has four main components;
- Benchmarking - we provide a system of assessing the waste management activities of an organisation through a comprehensive audit process – the Materials Recycling Audit. This audit benchmarks against best practice and for financial performance of existing activities
- Implementation Plan - the audit becomes a document that forms the basis of our agreed implementation plan. This way we can illustrate how the benefits of changing the waste management activities can be achieved. As well as the eventual service, other activities such as equipment sourcing, health & safety training, and staff process induction are included.
- Service Management - Severnside can then effectively coordinate all waste management activities. Such activities can include managing existing service providers as an agent, managing changeover of contractors, providing helpdesk support for waste and recycling issues, as well as implementing the recycling and landfill reduction plans.
- Performance Management – the monitoring of agreed Key Performance Indicators is essential to the success of the business relationship. Again the audit, fed into our information management systems, is a crucial tool for measuring financial performance in terms of both of actual cost savings and realising value added opportunities. Financial performance is not the only indicator, and Severnside operates a Customer Relationship Management System that allows for the input and extraction of the management information that is essential for the achievement and continuation of a quality assured service.
Our dedicated Facilities Management Centre allows for the coordination of all the above activities and therefore forms the hub for the production of management information regarding all recycling and waste management activities.
This blend of detailed understanding of the environmental services supply chain gain from implementing services for 14000 sites and a robust but sophisticated systems led approach delivers consistently class leading service and value for our clients.
