| The Severnside Annual Recycling Awards are aimed at identifying and rewarding the companies and the individuals who have achieved, through working with Severnside, excellence in the area of sustainable waste management. |
| Now in its fifth year the event highlights the achievements of many of our customers and business partners, demonstrating that sustainable waste management practice can have positive effects on the environment and the bottom line. |
| The awards focus not only on the achievements made at corporate level, but also on the efforts and achievements of the individuals who have put the mantra of Reduce Reuse Recycle at the heart of their working practices. |
| The awards are split into two sections, |
| Awards for Personal Commitment to Recycling |
| The Awards for Personal Commitment to Recycling identifies outstanding managers and teams, or sites, which are involved with Severnside in the recycling process. These awards recognise their contribution toward making recycling in the workplace a success by commitment and excellence in the operational, procedural and communicational aspects of their work. |
| Outstanding Manager Award |
| Winning Managers will stand out as someone who has considered all the issues associated with recycling at their workplace. They will have demonstrated excellent leadership skills in contributing to the success of recycling in their environment. |
| Outstanding Team, Or Site, Award |
| Winning Teams, or sites, will have made a positive commitment to recycling through teamwork. Their excellent teamwork ethic will have been embodied by all and helped to make a real improvement in recycling at their workplace. |

| Awards for Company Commitment to Recycling |
| The Awards for company commitment to recycling identifies and honours organisations involved with Severnside who have adapted recycling and other sustainable waste management techniques into the heart of their business practice. |
| Best Recycling Service Supplier |
| If recycling is to succeed as a waste management solution then a top quality recycling service has to be available to our customers. Severnside’s own operations, and that of its recycling partners, have to be of a standard that encourages companies and their employees to engage in recycling activity. |
| Best Commitment To Change Business Practice |
| Sometimes radical change of tried and tested working practice is needed to implement and improve new and existing recycling initiatives. This award seeks to highlight customers that have been prepared to take on and develop new business practice in the interest of maximising the recyclate harvested from their waste stream. |
| Best Community Recycling Initiative |
| As legislation unfolds in front of us, more and more organisations are exploring different projects to increase the amount of recyclate they can divert from landfill. This award aims to reward the initiative behind such projects. |
| Best Recycling Training & Information Campaign |
| This award is for Severnside customers and business partners, whether they be a company as a whole or an individual site or department, who can demonstrate the communication they used to promote recycling within their organisation. This could be to increase awareness of a new or existing initiative in particular, or to boost awareness of recycling issues as whole. |
| The Retail Recycling Initiative Award |
| The Retail Sector deserves specific focus with regards to waste management and recycling for two reasons; |

Firstly, the sector produces significant waste from its activities so organisations that ensure diversion from landfill, potentially over thousands of sites, deserve recognition. |

Secondly, and uniquely, retailers can also potentially ‘Create’ significant quantities of waste by the nature of the packaging around the goods they sell. This award seeks to retailers who see both these issues equally and have worked to minimise the impacts of these wastes, particularly through staff and customer involvement and innovation. |

| Best Overall Sustainable Waste Management Solution |
| Most environmental and economic benefits are achieved when organisations adopt a holistic approach to their waste management practices. With this award Severnside are seeking to identify those customers who have achieved, or are working towards achieving, sustainability in all aspects of their waste management. |
